Primer On The Inside

So...on Friday, Isaac and Rolf did one coat of primer in the full interior of the house....it was really nice to see those burgundy and bright blue walls disappear! We won't miss them at all.  Yesterday, Graham and Adam put up almost all the baseboards and molding in the house...I'll post pictures of that later.  We had a Realtor come to inspect the property yesterday in anticipation of our appraisal on Wednesday...and he happily reported that our house could be sold for $150,000 more than we bought it for! This was brilliant news to our ears, because with all the renovations completed, it means we've made a considerable amount of money if we were to sell it....which we're not! I hope the Appraiser on Wed agrees!  Demolition is on Thursday (of kitchen and bathrooms)!  Onwards and upwards....

New Gutters, etc.

So in the last couple of weeks we've had upstairs floors sanded, new lights upstairs, ceilings upstairs scraped (to remove 70's popcorn), gone to the dump with junk, new gutters,  new built-in closet in a bedroom and the bathroom has been made larger, met a bunch of carpenters and .....oh and tossed a dead mouse!

And the work continues.....

Inside of new framed master bathroom. We have to leave the inside wall off so that we can re-jig the plumbing...the clawfoot tub will be right in front of the back wall that you see here.

Bedroom side of the new wall for master bathroom

Hallway upstairs has newly sanded floors and new lighting, new molding around the new doors.

Stairs have been sanded and the molding on the side of the stairs is new.

Next week is plastering/drywalling week! Yippeee!!!

New Lights!

News is....we have new lights.  Not all have been added yet, but wow what a difference they make so far. We've also torn out the closet under the stairs to accommodate a massive closet (as it's our only storage on the floor).  The fab purchase of late was the fantastic old door we found at Jacks the has a 'WC' on it...which will be for the half bath on the main floor.  Isaac, our handyman also helped to sand the stair banister to get it ready to paint.  He also scraped the kitchen floor....so it's ready to sand.

Hanging in Our New Hood

Our Local Cafe and Grocery Store, Wilder Snail.

Where are we now?

Well, we are moving along nicely! We have... sanded the popcorn ceiling off on the main level of the house, started adding the moldings around doors and windows, started sanding the steps up to the second floor, bought new doors and door knobs for the bedrooms, bought a very cool old door for the half bath downstairs and purchased a new light for the front of the house (you'll all be warmly welcomed now!) ;-).  Not much was done in December, so we are playing catch up now for our estimated May move-in date.  Tenants will be out first week of March.

Door to the basement.

When dad was in town, he drew the lighting plan on the walls in the living room! The electrician is coming on Thursday, yipppeee, recessed lighting!
